Virtual Reality

Immersive virtual reality (VR) systems provide rich, realistic sensory cues to human users. Such cues include wide visual field of view, stereoscopic computer graphics, and spatialized sound. Research in this area addresses questions such as:

  • What are the effects of varying levels of sensory fidelity (immersion) for various tasks and applications?
  • How can we design effective interaction for immersive environments?
  • How can we take advantage of the unique characteristics of immersive VR to enable better task performance, understanding, learning, enjoyment, etc.?
